Our Activities

Variety is the spice of life!

While we always have a plan in place for every day of the week at The Robin Centre, we do like to mix things up as much as possible.

From celebrating seasonal events, including Halloween and Easter, to getting out and about in the garden and community, to a little healthy competition in the Gaming Zone – no two days are ever the same.

Below is just a taster of the fun on offer when you spend time with the team.

Arts & Crafts – Typically making seasonal decorations for Christmas, Easter & Valentines Day as well drawings and cushions.  We use some of the decorations at The Robin Centre and some are sold in our Shop.  This is a very rewarding initiative for our members as they can see the benefits of their work.

Making Jewellery – Crafting unique necklaces, pendants, and earrings, many of the astonishing gems we create are later sold in our shop.

Gardening – We have a vegetable garden which our members plan and choose what to grow.  This year, it was potatoes, carrots and onions which formed part of the The Robin Centre initiative ‘Plant it, Grow It, Eat It’.  The important life skills gained from this enjoyable initiative are fundamental to increasing their independence and they will be needed when they move in to Supported Living.  Another enjoyable initiative which generates valuable life skills The Robin Centre way!

Did You Know?

We deliver activities for boosting Life and Vocational Skills
While always fun, our activities are also always purposeful. We aim to boost everyday life skills, and develop vocational skills too, amongst all of our members.
We have distinct zones for different activities
The Robin Centre has five different zones, each one providing a different kind of environment for learning and socialising.
Funding For the Robin Centre
Funding is usually available for members by contacting Middlesbrough County Council, who will liaise with us in turn.
Member’s Scrapbook
All member's receive a scrapbook, which they update daily, to record their unique journey of learning and achievement.

Life Skills – Every week, we take our members food shopping, go to the library, cooking, washing up, washing clothes and tidying are all important life skills, both for everyday living, and for individuals planning to live more independently.

Personal Hygiene & Health – With engaging health and welfare sessions, we promote personal hygiene not just as a day to day essential – but as an aid to overall health and reducing the risk of infections. We also approach health issues in the news, and national health campaigns, in tactful ways to encourage positive, personal health practice.

Exercise – Regular Exercise classes using the Wii, these are so much fun with everyone participating including the support staff!  Some of our members have restricted movement, but they still participate in the exercise classes as so much fun is had by all.

Education Courses – We find on-line courses and physical workbooks for our members to complete.  These are mainly numeracy and literacy courses.  As our members have different levels of Learning Disabilities, we find courses which suit their abilities and needs.  These courses will form part of their Individual Development Plan.
