About The Robin Centre

At our day centre, we believe that as individuals, our experience of learning should also be completely unique.

We believe a productive philosophy reaps productive outcomes.  At The Robin Centre, the inspiration behind anything we do comes from a commitment to learning and equality.

It’s a basic human right to experience, understand and feel the benefits of learning and equality in everyday life. Within the purpose built learning environment of our adult day care centre in Middlesbrough, our members are empowered to do this each and every day!

With an individual learning plan agreed, our dedicated staff make achieving personal goals a unique and rewarding experience.

While always fun, our activities are also always purposeful. We aim to boost everyday life skills, and develop vocational skills too, amongst all of our members.

The Robin Centre has five different zones, each one providing a different kind of environment for learning and socialising.
Funding For the Robin Centre
Funding is usually available for members by contacting Middlesbrough County Council, who will liaise with us in turn.
Member’s Scrapbook
All member's receive a scrapbook, which they update daily, to record their unique journey of learning and achievement.

What you’ll find at The Robin Centre

The layout of our day centre in Middlesbrough is split into distinct zones. Each one offers something a little different, and provides a distinct learning and socialising experience for our members.

The Gaming Zone is equipped with the latest gaming consoles such as PS4, Wii & an xBox. As The Robin Centre caters for all age groups, it’s important that the younger members have activities which interest and stimulate them.  It is important to us that we keep up to date with new and modern activities for our younger members.

The IT Zone is equipped with iPads and a laptop PC to support internet research as well as distance learning courses. We encourage our members to participate in educational activities and to safely embrace modern technology through the use of iPad’s and Laptops.  At The Robin Centre, we acknowledge the important role IT will play in our members lives and we provide talks and seminars on how to use the internet safely.

The Home Zone of our day care centre has a fully functional kitchen to develop vital life skills such as cooking, ironing and washing. These are of course all important life skills needed to help our members move in to supported living and leading a more independent life, wherever possible.

The Chill Out Zone has a TV and DVD player and luxurious sofas for much needed rest & recuperation. We like everyone who becomes a member of our day care centre to know that down time is just as important as active time. Being able to relax, and knowing when to, is essential to wellness and achieving a good balance in life.

The Arts & Crafts Zone contains a vast array of arts & crafts activities to develop creative skills. Arts & Crafts allows our day care members to use their imagination to create wonderful items such as cushions, seasonal decorations and jewellery.  Most of these items are either used to decorate The Robin Centre, or are sold in our shop.  The Easter wreaths were simply stunning!!!
